A tragic accident occurred in Suphan Buri early this morning where two Myanmar workers were killed after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing a dark road to buy food.

Officer Chaiporn Poonjantuek from the Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station received a report of a road accident on Ooyaa Road, Ban Pho subdistrict, Mueang district, Suphan Buri. Emergency responders from Nen Kaeo Highway Rescue, Samakarn Suphan Buri Rescue, and Chaophraya Yommarat Hospital arrived at the scene to assist.

Upon arrival, rescuers found paramedics attempting CPR on the injured individuals. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased were Myanmar nationals. The driver of the pickup truck, 27 year old Supakorn, stayed at the scene to turn himself in.

Supakorn explained that he was driving home after work, travelling in the right lane as usual. Suddenly, two individuals appeared in front of his vehicle, leading to a collision. He mentioned that the road was very dark, making it difficult to see the pedestrians.

Another driver, who chose to remain anonymous and was driving behind the pickup truck, was also present at the scene. He stated that he was on his way home when he witnessed the accident.

He saw the pickup truck hit the pedestrians, and one of the bodies was thrown under his vehicle. The entire incident happened in an instant.

Initial inquiries with relatives of the deceased confirmed that both victims were Myanmar nationals. The first victim was identified as 17 year old Ga, while information about the other victim, named Khor, is still being gathered.

The two workers had left their residence to buy food from a shop across the road. Ga, who worked in Nakhon Pathom, had returned to visit his mother and grandmother, who worked at a nearby rice mill. Unfortunately, his visit ended in tragedy.

Ga’s mother, upon hearing the news, rushed to the scene in a state of shock and sorrow, embracing her son’s body amidst tears.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation of the accident site, collecting statements from the involved parties, and gathering evidence to proceed with legal actions against the driver responsible, reported KhaoSod.
