Thai worker loses life in explosion at oil tank factory in Kanchanaburi
Pregnant wife collapses at scene after learning of husband's death

A male worker lost his life in an explosion at a factory in Kanchanaburi province. Two other workers were injured in the incident.
A rescuer from the Khun Rattanawut Foundation, Persia Jongtawon, shared a video of the incident on his Facebook page yesterday, August 6. The explosion occurred at the Taspow oil tank production factory.
In the caption, he wrote, “Responding to an alert about the explosion of an oil tank in the Tha Mai subdistrict. One fatality and several injuries reported.”
The video showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky above the factory. The area surrounding the factory appeared to be residential. More than 10 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene and sprayed water into the factory to prevent the fire from escalating and spreading to nearby buildings and residences.
Kanchanaburi Provincial Governor, Atisan In-tra, later informed MGR Online that the explosion occurred while a male worker was welding an oil tank. The blast was believed to have been caused by gas from the welding equipment. However, the governor stated that the official cause of the explosion had not yet been confirmed.

The welder, later identified as 47 year old Arnon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional workers reportedly sustained injuries. The extent of the property damage has not yet been assessed. Arnon’s wife, upon arrival at the factory, collapsed in tears, which prompted rescuers to administer first aid and escort her to a safe area away from the site.
Speaking to the media, the woman revealed that she and her husband had been trying to have a child for some time. She had previously suffered a miscarriage, but their most recent attempt had been successful; she is now three months pregnant.

Officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion, promising to release further information to the public once it becomes available.
This tragedy follows another deadly explosion reported last week in Suphan Buri province, where nine people lost their lives and two others were seriously injured in a firecracker factory blast. That facility was reportedly operating without a licence or adequate safety measures.
