TikTok user @aumpaktob gained online attention after sharing a poignant encounter with her late father. She lost her father six months prior and, in a surprising twist of events, found herself coming across a Google Street View image of him tending to his garden. This chance discovery provided her with a sudden and unexpected connection to her father.
Six months after her father’s sudden death, the young woman was left with no chance to say her goodbyes. The visual reminder of her father in his element, captured in photographs at his funeral, was a sombre memory that she clung to.
On a day when her boyfriend intended to visit her father’s banana garden but was unsure of the route, she sent him the location. Upon checking the location on Google Street View, she was surprised to find her father captured by the Google Maps vehicle as he was engrossed in maintaining his garden.
The sight of her father, looking towards the Google Maps vehicle, felt like a gaze directed towards her. This unexpected encounter brought tears to her eyes, a combination of surprise and a strange sense of joy. Her father, a man who took immense pleasure in gardening, was seen in his everyday routine, reported Sanook.

Some found their parents within their home’s boundaries, while others saw them riding motorcycles.
A few netizens expressed a wish for Google Maps to stop blurring faces, longing to see their parents’ faces. However, this is not possible due to privacy rights violations.
