Thai monk admits having sex, blames partner for leaked video
A 70 year old Thai monk admitted to having sex with another monk at a temple in the central province of Chai Nat, accusing his partner of releasing an explicit video out of jealousy after he made contact with a taxi driver.
The Facebook page เจ๊ม้à¸à¸¢ v+ (J Moy V+) shared the story of the monk, Jong, on October 25, including a blurred image and a video of him engaging in sexual activities in the comments section. The post drew heavy criticism for violating the rules of Buddhist monastic life.
Reporters from Channel 8 visited the temple in the Kabin Buri district in the central province of Prachin Buri, where Jong was staying. They first questioned the community leader about Jong and showed him the video.
The community leader expressed shock at the footage. Although he was not entirely certain whether the monk in the video was Jong, he stated he was 80% confident. He then accompanied the Channel 8 team to the temple to question Jong personally.
When confronted with the footage, Jong admitted that he was indeed the monk in the video. He identified the other monk in the video as Aui Xiao Por, who resides in a temple in Khon Kaen province in Isaan.
Jong explained that the incident occurred five to six months ago while he and Aui Xiao Por were staying at a temple in Chai Nat province. At the time, Jong was recovering from appendicitis surgery and struggled to walk.
Accused monk denies
Aui Xiao Por volunteered to care for him, including helping him bathe. This, Jong claimed, led to a mutual sexual attraction. Jong said he was unaware that Aui Xiao Por secretly recorded the encounter. He believed Aui Xiao Por leaked the explicit video because of jealousy.
Jong insisted that he only engaged in sexual activity with Aui Xiao Por once and subsequently distanced himself, which upset his partner. He added that Aui Xiao Por wanted him to move to his temple in Khon Kaen but he refused. Aui Xiao Por also grew jealous, suspecting Jong of having an affair with a taxi driver.
The community leader examined Jong’s phone and discovered numerous pornographic videos, as well as online conversations between Jong and various men, including the taxi driver. The driver shared explicit photos and videos with Jong, and the two engaged in a sexual conversation.
However, Aui Xiao Por denied having any sexual relationship with Jong in an interview with the media. He admitted that they stayed in the same temple in Chai Nat before but did not do what Jong claimed. He also saw numerous men visiting Jong during that time.
The abbot of Aui Xiao Por’s temple also defended him, saying that Aui Xiao Por suffers from asthma and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), conditions that would prevent him from engaging in sexual activity.
Jong was later ordered to leave the monkhood, which he accepted. Channel 8 reported that the taxi driver arrived at the temple to collect Jong, indicating their romantic connection.
