Thai housemaid and husband arrested for stealing gold and cash from blind employer
CCTV and fingerprints expose couple’s betrayal inside Nonthaburi condo

Police yesterday, October 15, arrested a Thai housemaid and her husband for stealing cash and gold worth nearly 1.2 million baht from a blind employer.
The blind victim, 25 year old Kitsiri, filed a theft complaint with officers at Rattanathibet Police Station on August 6. She explained that she had travelled to another province and stayed there for several days. When she returned to her condominium room, she found that she could not open her safe.
Kitsiri asked others to help check the safe and discovered that it had been cut open before being sealed back with glue.
According to Kitsiri, she originally kept 1.3 million baht in cash and over 3.3 million baht worth of gold accessories and gold bars in the safe. Upon inspection, she found 200,000 baht in cash and around 990,000 baht worth of gold missing. She suspected her housemaid might be responsible for the theft.
Police officers investigated the case and arrested the 38 year old suspect, Anuchit Khongpan, the husband of Kitsiri’s 34 year old housemaid, Sureerat Maneerat.

Anuchit was apprehended at around 9pm yesterday within a housing estate in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok.
Unexpectedly, Sureerat arrived at the police station to visit her husband and post bail for him, unaware that her name was also on an arrest warrant. She reportedly denied all allegations.

However, police said there was sufficient evidence linking both suspects to the theft. CCTV footage clearly showed them committing the crime, and their fingerprints were found on the safe and other areas inside Kitsiri’s condominium.
Both suspects were charged under Section 335 of the Criminal Law: theft involving damage to a barrier intended to protect persons or property. The offence carries a penalty of one to five years in prison and a fine between 20,000 and 100,000 baht. They remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
