Suspects at large after brutal murder and robbery of bedridden woman
Victim's family condemns murderers for committing heinous act for just 7,500 baht

Police are searching for suspects involved in the brutal murder and robbery of a bedridden woman in the central province of Ratchaburi. The killer committed the heinous act for just 7,500 baht in cash.
The victim, 53 year old Srirai, was discovered dead in her bed at her home in the Ban Pong district yesterday, July 17. Her 64 year old caretaker, Nittaya, was the first to find the body.
Srirai suffered multiple deep stab and slash wounds across her body. Her head and neck were bludgeoned with a hard object, causing her skull to be crushed. No weapon was found at the scene.
Nittaya told police that Srirai’s sisters had hired her to care for their sibling, who suffered from polio and muscle weakness since birth. Nittaya said she fed Srirai in the morning and evening and bathed her daily at around 4pm.
She also revealed that she had recently repaid a debt of 7,500 baht to one of Srirai’s sisters. She left the cash in Srirai’s pocket three days before the murder, but the money was missing after the incident.

Nittaya mentioned seeing two men walking behind the house a few days earlier and suspected they could be involved in the crime. Police also questioned her as a possible suspect but have found no evidence linking her to the murder so far.
One of Srirai’s sisters, Lamai, told Ban Mueang news agency that she was shocked the killing was motivated by such a small amount of money.
She noted that Srirai was physically unable to resist or fight back, and the thief could have simply taken the cash without resorting to violence.
Lamai believed the culprits are likely residents who feared that Srirai could later identify them to the police.

A neighbour, Phikun, said she heard no noise or cries for help from Srirai’s house at the time of the incident. It was Nittaya who came to inform her of the murder, prompting her to accompany the caretaker to check on the victim.
Police are continuing to collect evidence at the scene, with fingerprints found in the house considered a key lead in identifying the suspect or suspects.
