Narcotics Suppression Bureau makes 2 large drug busts, methamphetamine pills and marijuana seized

In 2 recent cases, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau made 2 sizable drug arrests. 5 suspects were arrested and 5.4 million methamphetamine pills and about 600 kilograms of marijuana were seized.

In the first bust in the Singburi province, located in central Thailand, 3 suspects were arrested: 40 year old Sittipol Charoensang, 40 year old Tua Charoenpai, and 32 year old Kwannaphat Leecharoensuwan. The suspects were allegedly smuggling 27 sacks of methamphetamine from Chiang Rai to Suphan Buri, that is, from northern Thailand to central Thailand. The Pattaya News says around 5,400,000 methamphetamine pills and 2 vehicles were seized. The 3 suspects have allegedly confessed to smuggling drugs 4 times at 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 baht per drug run. All suspects have been detained by the bureau for further legal proceedings.

Then, in the second bust, 2 suspects, 43 year old Niphon Kengthanakarn and 28 year old Surasak Phansawat were arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana from Udon Thani, a northeastern province, to central provinces. Police seized 560 kilograms of cannabis and 2 cars from the suspects. They have been charged with possession of category 5 narcotics for sale and await further legal action. The bureau says the arrests are the work of an investigation into a drug network named “Rang Sakae Krang”, and say they have already nabbed 16 suspects and over 2,300 kilograms of marijuana from the group.
