6 year old girl’s eye donation brings hope to transplant patients
The selfless act of organ donation continues to save lives, with increasing numbers of people choosing to donate their organs. Recently, a poignant story emerged involving a six year old girl whose family decided to donate her eyes to help patients awaiting transplants. This story was shared by the Thai Red Cross Society, underscoring the message that while one’s physical presence may fade, the act of giving can be everlasting.
Supannika Thongta, affectionately known as Nong Preem, was just six years old when she tragically passed away due to cancer. Her family, recognising the importance of eye donation, decided to contribute her eyes to the Thai Red Cross Society. This generous act aims to assist numerous patients still waiting for corneal transplants.
The Thai Red Cross Society expressed its deepest condolences to the family of Supannika Thongta, acknowledging her as an eye donor. They hoped that the merit gained from this act of kindness would guide Nong Preem’s spirit to a peaceful afterlife.
“Even in death, the giving never ends. The final act of merit through #EyeDonation,” read a post by the Thai Red Cross Society.
For those interested in contributing to this cause, the Thai Red Cross Society provides opportunities for the public to register their intent to donate eyes and organs. This can be done online through their website or via the Eye-Organ Donation application. These platforms make it easier for individuals to become part of this life-saving initiative, reported KhaoSod.
“The Thai Red Cross Society extends its heartfelt sympathy to the family of Supannika Thongta, an eye donor, and wishes that the merit from helping patients leads Nong Preem’s spirit to a peaceful afterlife.”
In related news, doctors from Hua Hin Hospital and the Thai Red Cross Society paid tribute to a 13 year old boy who tragically passed away from a brain aneurysm, for his exceptional act of donating organs that will potentially save multiple lives.
