A neighbour urged a social media influencer to save a three year old Thai boy from his party-loving, drug-addicted mother at their home in the central province of Pathum Thani. The mother confessed to leaving her son alone at home while she enjoyed some fun and frolics at a drug party with friends.

The neighbour called the social media influencer, Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet, to the home in Tawanna Ville Village in the Thanyaburi district of Pathum Thani to help the young boy. The neighbour explained that the boy’s mother often went on a rampage and argued with many people in the area.

According to the neighbour, the child’s home belonged to the boy’s grandfather, aged about 80 years old. The old man had moved out of the house two months ago because of his daughter’s alleged assault attempts on him. He told others in the community that he was too embarrassed to live with his daughter.

The neighbour added that the woman had never hurt her son. However, she usually left him alone at home and disappeared for the whole day. Locals in the area often heard the boy crying, especially during thunderstorms.

Gun arrived at the home yesterday, July 24, along with officers from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (M-Society). He revealed to Channel 7 that the home was poorly maintained and dirty, with rubbish and broken glass bottles.

Mother rehabilitation

The boy’s mother did not allow Gun and the M-Society officers to enter her home and protested her innocence. She shouted vulgarities at the officers and insisted that she had never abandoned her son as the neighbour claimed.

After 30 minutes of persuasion, the mother brought her son out of the house to greet the entourage and confessed to her drug addiction. She disclosed that she left her son at home alone because she wanted to join a drug party with her friends. However, she always returned home to care for the boy and had never stayed at the party overnight.

Gun reported that the boy did not have any wounds or traces of abuse but he continued crying, frightened by the day’s events. The boy told Gun and the officers that he was hungry and wanted snacks.

The boy’s aunt also came to the home yesterday. She revealed that she wanted to help her nephew but could not afford his care. She had once sought rehabilitation for her sister but no official departments responded to her request.

The boy will remain under the care of the M-Society until his mother is clean from drugs and able to care for him properly.
