Youth gang attacks man in Khlong Toei over 10 baht demand
A group of youths, the youngest being a 10 year old, allegedly attacked a 23 year old Cambodian man with a knife in the Khlong Toei area of Bangkok after he refused to give them 10 baht.
The incident took place yesterday, February 24, near the Khlong Toei Community School and, was reported to the Tha Ruea Police Station. The victim, identified as Wanchitchum, suffered a stab wound to his left ribs and a head injury. He was transported to a hospital before the police‘s arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Wanchitchum, a Cambodian labourer, and his friend were cycling to a convenience store when the group of youths approached them, asking for 10 baht (US$0.3). Upon refusal, Wanchitchum was harassed by the youths who started cycling after him.
After retrieving his bicycle, Wanchitchum encountered the same group, now armed with a knife. He attempted to flee back to his residence but was pursued by the youths, who had gathered more members. He was eventually caught and stabbed, resulting in his injuries, reported KhaoSod.
Police remain confident they will apprehend the gang of youths.
In similar news, a Thai woman stabbed her manager to death at a convenience store in the central province of Samut Sakhon at about 5pm on February 23, after being reprimanded for smoking while on duty.
Officers from Mueang Samut Sakhon Police Station investigated the fatal stabbing at a convenience store on Siwa Pa Sawat-Ekkachai Road in Samut Sakhon, accompanied by a rescue team. Store employees informed police that the suspect remained in the storage room with the lifeless body of the manager.
Officers entered the storage room and found the perpetrator, 28 year old Kamonrat, still standing over the body of the victim, 35 year old Tawinan. Police attempted to persuade her to drop the knife she was holding, but Kamonrat refused to comply.
Her refusal forced officers to use force to subdue her. Fortunately, both the officers and Kamonrat were unharmed during the operation. Kamonrat declined to speak with police about the motive behind her violent actions.
