Heavy rain warning for 25 Thai provinces amid monsoon changes
Flood alerts raised as storms threaten northern regions

Today, August 19, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather forecast warning for 25 provinces in Thailand, predicting heavy rainfall in the north and northeastern regions.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant against potential dangers, including flash floods and forest runoff, especially in areas near slopes, waterways, and low-lying regions.
The monsoon trough is moving across northern Thailand and northern Laos into a low-pressure area along the coast of upper Vietnam. Additionally, the southwesterly monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand is weakening, leading to reduced rain nationwide. However, heavy rain is still expected in some parts of the north and northeast.
In the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, waves have weakened. The upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand are experiencing waves of 1 to 2 metres, while the lower regions have waves around 1 metre.
In areas with thunderstorms, waves might exceed 2 metres. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas.
