Bus accident kills two bank employees at Prachanukul Intersection

Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) expressed deep regret over a tragic accident where a bus ran over two bank employees, resulting in their deaths at the Prachanukul Intersection. The BMTA has pledged compensation to the victims’ families and will host the funeral ceremony tomorrow.

The incident occurred yesterday, September 26, at 8.25am when an air-conditioned bus on route 49 (2-43), numbered 8-55073, collided with a motorcycle at the U-turn near Prachanukul Intersection, at the mouth of Ratchadaphisek Soi 62. Both the motorcycle driver and the pillion passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

BMTA released a statement extending its condolences and apologies to the families of the deceased. Immediately after the accident, BMTA dispatched accident zone officers from the 8th bus operational area to investigate the scene.

The victims’ families were contacted by BMTA, which also coordinated with Mueang Thai Insurance Public Co., Ltd., and Dhipaya Insurance Public Co., Ltd., to dispatch representatives to process compensation and provide support to the bereaved families.

In a statement, BMTA apologised for the regrettable incident.

“The organisation is deeply sorry and apologises for the incident that has occurred. We are committed to ensuring that the families of the deceased receive full compensation and support.”

Compensation will be provided under the Motor Vehicle Victims Protection Act and existing vehicle insurance policies arranged by BMTA. In addition, BMTA will co-host the funeral rites for the deceased to formally express their condolences.

BMTA has committed to expediting all related processes to ensure the families receive comprehensive compensation and support. The organisation also vowed to overhaul its operational systems and improve service quality, with a heightened focus on public safety, reported KhaoSod.
