Woman arrested in Samut Songkhram for drug possession
A woman in Samut Songkhram was arrested for drug possession after police found her in suspicious circumstances. The arrest took place after law enforcement received complaints about drug trafficking in the area, leading to a police operation.
Police in Amphawa district, led by Kochanat Patthawichai, had been alerted to potential drug activities in Moo 6, Tha Kha subdistrict. Consequently, they coordinated with Phetkla Thaveekarn, the Superintendent of Amphawa Police Station, assembling a task force to investigate the situation. During the operation, police encountered 31 year old Chaloda riding a motorcycle in the area, behaving suspiciously, said a police spokesperson.
“Upon approaching the woman, officers uncovered drugs classified as Category One, specifically methamphetamine tablets.”
Officers discovered 89 methamphetamine pills stored in a resealable plastic bag. The discovery led to her immediate detainment and transportation to Amphawa Police Station for further questioning.
A subsequent urine test confirmed the presence of drugs in Chaloda’s system. During her interrogation, Chaloda claimed that she worked at a local restaurant. She also stated that the methamphetamine belonged to her deceased boyfriend.
According to her account, she had intended to deliver 10 pills to a friend who had placed an order, with plans to consume the drugs together in a nearby garden. However, the tide had risen, making the area inaccessible, prompting her to ride around instead, ultimately leading to her arrest.
The police have charged Chaloda with possession of a Category One drug and illegal consumption of such drugs. She is currently facing legal proceedings in accordance with Thai law.
In related news, a suspicious vehicle stop led to the arrest of three people accused of drug trafficking in Bangkok. Law enforcement discovered 3 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine and a firearm in their possession as they allegedly attempted to transport the drugs.
Police officers from the Samae Dam Police Station set up a checkpoint as part of a crime suppression initiative during the Loy Krathong festival. The checkpoint was located on Samae Dam Road, near Soi 2, in the Bang Khun Thian district of Bangkok.
