Teen arrested after shooting incident over personal dispute
Youth violence sparks alarm as police probe motives behind escalating conflict

A teen suspect was arrested following a shooting incident involving 15 rounds, reportedly due to a personal dispute. The 19 year old suspect claimed self-defence, stating, “If we didn’t act, they would have,” following several previous altercations.
The incident occurred when two people on a red PCX motorcycle, with an unidentified license plate, stopped and fired approximately 15 shots at the victim before fleeing towards the entrance of Soi Nuanchan 22 on Nuanchan Road.
The attackers wore black jackets, black jeans, and the driver had a black helmet. The crime took place in the early hours of May 3.
Yesterday, May 6, at 5.30pm, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner, along with Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Nopasil Poolwadee and Investigation Unit Commander Police Major General Chotiwat Luangwilai, announced the arrest of Chanitpol, also known as 19 year old Chef. He was detained under a criminal court warrant number 2648/2568, dated May 4, accused of premeditated murder.
Charges include premeditated murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and carrying firearms in public without justification. Pen, the 17 year old motorcycle driver, was also implicated.
Lt. Gen. Siam revealed that the investigation team identified the suspects on the day of the incident, leading to their arrest on Koh Samui, Surat Thani province. The suspect cited personal conflict as the motive, involving tension between the assailant’s group and the victim’s group, who had previously threatened Chanitpol.
Chanitpol intended to confront the victim to verify the threat but decided to act preemptively to avoid being shot. The firearm was reportedly purchased via Facebook for 38,000 baht (US$1,160), reported KhaoSod.
After the crime, he changed clothes, disposed of the gun in Bueng Kum, and visited his father in Surat Thani. However, police remain sceptical of his full testimony, continuing their investigation and legal proceedings.
