The device combines a durable aluminium design, Liquid Retina display, Apple Silicon performance, high-quality camera, microphones and speakers, Magic Keyboard, Multi-Touch trackpad, and macOS features.

The MacBook Neo is a reimagination of the 12-inch MacBook line launched in 2017, updated for the AI era. The device is described as being built from 100% recycled aluminium and designed to prioritise portability for grab-and-go use, weighing between 1.22 and 1.24 kilogrammes.

This new addition uses an Apple A18 Pro chip, marking it as the first Apple laptop to use the same chip family previously used in iPhone 16 Pro. Reported specifications include a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU, with positioning focused on everyday tasks such as document work, web browsing, streaming, light photo editing and on-device AI workloads.

Apple claims the MacBook Neo delivers web browsing speeds up to 50% faster and on-device AI performance up to three times faster than an Intel Core Ultra 5. Do note that the device is generally intended for general use rather than heavy workloads such as video editing or 3D rendering.

The MacBook Neo is reported to feature a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with 2408 x 1506 resolution, up to 500 nits brightness and support for one billion colours. Features also include a 1080p webcam, a built-in microphone, and a dual speaker system.

As of the time of reporting, the device only comes with a non-upgradable 8GB memory, with no options for a little more juice, which may limit performance in some current applications.

For avid multitaskers, the MacBook Neo can connect to one external display.

Ports include two USB-C for accessories, charging (no MagSafe) and external displays, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack. The entry-level laptop also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.

The device is reported in four colours: Silver, Blush, Indigo and Citrus.

The lower starting price, relative to the MacBook Air line, reflects Apple’s effort to attract younger users and students into its ecosystem earlier and build long-term brand familiarity. For comparison, the current MacBook Air model is priced at 36,900 baht.
