Foreign man slaps Phuket taxi driver and rams van in separate incidents
Public anger grows over police silence on foreign offender

Local news agencies and residents in Phuket are demanding police action against a foreign man who was caught on a viral video slapping a Thai taxi driver in the face in the middle of the road.
A Thai motorist shared dashcam footage of the incident with the Facebook news page Phuket Times, yesterday, May 4. The assault reportedly occurred on a road outside Masjid Nurul Islamiyah in Patong, Phuket.
In the video, the foreign man was seen parking his white sedan in front of a white taxi. He then exited his vehicle and walked directly towards the taxi driver, shouting angrily. The taxi driver lowered his window to speak with the man, who then slapped him on the face before driving away from the scene.
The motorist recording the incident was heard in the video saying, “Hey, why don’t you (taxi driver) get out and give him some punches?”
Many Thai netizens questioned in the comments why the taxi driver allowed the foreigner to leave so easily, pointing out that Thai motorists involved in disputes are often treated more harshly. Others criticised local police officers for allegedly turning a blind eye to illegal foreign nationals.

The foreign man’s aggressive behaviour was not an isolated incident. A Thai TikToker later shared another video allegedly showing the same foreigner reversing his car into a van. The Thai van driver commented under the post, claiming that police ignored his complaint. He wrote…
“The car he hit in the video is my van. I chased after him for ten minutes and reported the incident to the police immediately, but they simply let him go.”

The van driver maintained that there was no prior conflict between him and the foreigner. He added that the foreign man repeatedly braked without reason, seemingly trying to provoke a collision.
The TikToker claimed that police had already checked the registration plate of the foreigner’s car, กจ 4829 Satun, but it did not appear in the system. Officers reportedly failed to clarify what further action would be taken against the foreign motorist.
