Cement truck crash causes power outage in Cherng Talay

A cement truck en route to The Aqua project in Cherng Talay collided with a power pole early on January 25, causing a power and internet outage for residents.

Cherng Talay Police responded to the incident near the Samnak Pathipatham Luang Pho Sompharong temple on Cherng Talay-Baan Don Road at approximately 6.15am.

The driver, 31 year old Chanchai Daengphrom from Cha-uat district, Nakhon Sri Thammarat province, was operating a truck registered in Ratchaburi and owned by TLL Logistics Co Ltd. The truck was transporting powdered cement from Thung Song district to the Phuket-based project.

Chanchai stated that he departed from Nakhon Sri Thammarat at 8pm the previous night. At around 3.50am, while navigating through Cherng Talay, he lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently hit the power poles and affected the nearby internet infrastructure.

The impact resulted in the collapse of two power poles and interrupted electricity supply in the Baan Pasak area. Additionally, internet cables were damaged during the incident.

Police confirmed that Chanchai was sober at the time of the accident. Blood samples were taken and dispatched to Thalang Hospital for further analysis, reported The Phuket News.

Officers documented the scene with photographs and a map in their preliminary investigation. Restoration of electricity and internet services was reported to be in progress. Police did not indicate any charges against Chanchai about the incident.
