Phuket’s Thanyapura extends its challenge
PHUKET: The island’s active and healthy lifestyle destination, Thanyapura Sports and Leisure Center, is extending its commitments to developing sporting excellence in athletes and enthusiasts of all abilities and ages by hosting the Thanyapura Junior Challenge Triathlon, part of the Challenge Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest 2013, on Saturday, November 30.
With participants divided into Junior (6-8 years), Intermediate (9-12) and Senior (13-18) categories, the triathlon event will give young athletes the chance to experience the world class sports facilities at Thanyapura including its 50 meter Olympic standard outdoor pool with biking and running routes set within the surrounding nature of Khao Phra Thaew National Park.
Phuket’s Thanyapura is an inspiring environment for children. Training alongside professional athletes, Olympians and world record holders gives a sense of tangibility to their aspirations, as these sporting stars show them that their goals are attainable with the right outlook and support.
The Thanyapura Junior Challenge Triathlon will be hosted with support from the local Thalang Police Authority and Chief of Thalang District, ensuring the safety of both competitors and spectators throughout the weekend.
Juniors will perform a 50m swim, 3km bike and 500m run; Intermediates will swim 150m, run 6km and follow with a 1,500m run; Seniors will do 300m swim, 12km bike and end with a 3,000m run.
