Truck collision on Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road injures one passenger
A major collision occurred early yesterday on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya, involving a six-wheeler truck and a 10-wheeler truck, resulting in one passenger being injured.
Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, alongside Pattaya police, arrived at the scene at 7am yesterday, August 29, near the Khao Talo intersection in the inbound lane towards Sattahip, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.
Rescuers discovered a six-wheeler truck with severe front-end damage. The driver, 34 year old Suthep Kulnak, was uninjured. However, his passenger, 27 year old Supaporn Sangwan, was trapped in the passenger seat. Rescue workers used hydraulic equipment to extricate her before rushing her to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Further down the road, a 10-wheeler truck was found with minor damage to its rear right side. The driver, 42 year old Phiphopphat Khamsomjit, was unharmed and waiting to provide a statement to the police.
Suthep, the six-wheeler driver, explained that he was transporting fabric softener from Bang Pu to Sattahip when he lost control after braking, leading to the collision with the 10-wheeler truck.
“I was on my way to deliver fabric softener when I suddenly lost control of the vehicle after braking. That’s when I crashed into the 10-wheeler.”
Meanwhile, Phiphopphat, the 10-wheeler driver, stated that he was transporting school milk from Sa Kaeo province to Pattaya City 7 School. He felt a sudden jolt from the rear and stopped to investigate, discovering the six-wheeler had crashed into his truck.
“I felt a strong impact from behind and stopped immediately to check. That’s when I saw the six-wheeler had collided with my truck.”
Pattaya police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to ensure a thorough and fair investigation for everyone involved, reported Pattaya News.
