Kuwaiti man rides against traffic flow and crashes into Thai riders
A Kuwaiti man rode a motorcycle against the flow of traffic in Pattaya and collided with another motorcycle carrying four Thai people, resulting in serious injuries in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A motorcycle accident was reported to Mueang Pattaya Police Station at approximately 5.46am yesterday, August 6. The accident occurred on Pattaya Sai Sarm Road, also known as Chalermprakiat Road, in the Nongprue district of Pattaya.
Upon investigation, police found two damaged motorcycles, one was orange and black and the other was black and green. Four Thai women travelling on the orange and black motorcycle were injured, three of them are in serious condition.
The owner of the black and green motorcycle was a Kuwaiti man, later identified as 19 year old Abdelaziz. He also sustained serious injuries. A picture shared on a Facebook news page showed the Kuwaiti man lying in a pool of his blood on the road.
All injured individuals received first aid before being transferred to a nearby hospital. There is no update on their condition from the hospital.
The Thai woman, 27 year old Pranee, who sustained only minor injuries, informed the police that she and three friends were travelling on a single motorcycle and had halted at the scene, waiting for a traffic light. While they were waiting, Abdelaziz and his passenger rode at high speed against the flow of traffic and suddenly collided with her motorcycle.
The police have yet to conclude the investigation, as the Kuwaiti man is still unable to be questioned. Officers will review security camera footage from the scene and gather additional evidence.
In a related report three weeks ago, Pattaya locals demanded police action against Kuwaiti motorcycle racers, particularly in Soi Yen Sabai, due to noise disturbances and a physical altercation that blocked other motorists.
Another related incident occurred this week when a group of Kuwaiti men engaged in an altercation with Thai motorcycle riders in Soi Yen Sabai. Police intervened and planned to deport all Kuwaiti nationals involved.
