A Chinese couple’s repeated miscarriages raised concerns and worries until the husband discovered that his wife had been secretly taking abortion pills to protect the feelings of her 8 year old stepdaughter, who did not want a new brother or sister.

The 30 year old man from Zhenjiang, Hefei, married a woman three years older than him. He faced emotional distress over repeated miscarriages in their family. Despite the four miscarriages within five years of being together, their normal health conditions left doctors puzzled. When his wife became pregnant for the fifth time, Chen, her husband, installed a hidden camera in their bedroom, revealing unexpected truths.

The footage revealed that his wife had secretly taken unidentified medication he had not seen before. Upon further investigation, he discovered the pills were, in fact, abortion pills. Confused and upset, Chen confronted his wife, who tearfully admitted the truth behind her actions.

It turned out that Chen has a daughter, now 8 years old, from a previous marriage and had been granted custody following the divorce.
