Thai woman’s U-turn after ex-husband’s abduction (video)
A Thai woman survived an abduction by her ex-husband and his friend thanks to the help of motorists on a road in Bangkok. She later decided to withdraw the legal charges against them following a request from her ex-father-in-law.
Numerous witnesses and motorists on Pracha Uthit Road in Bangkok successfully rescued the 26 year old woman, identified as Daranee, from the abduction at approximately 4.30pm, on Wednesday, November 20. The rescue was captured on the dashcams of several motorists.
In the footage, Daranee is seen opening the door of a golden bronze Toyota sedan and shouting for help, with her arms and legs bound with thick yellow tape.
Daranee attempted to escape from the car while her ex-husband‘s friend, 29 year old Rattapong, tried to pull her back in, and the driver, her 28 year old ex-husband Pitiphum, attempted to drive away from the scene.
Fortunately, Pitiphum was unable to get far due to heavy traffic. A motorcyclist approached the car and questioned Rattapong about why he and Pitiphum tied up the woman. Pitiphum was overheard shouting…
“She is going to escape with her lover!”
Daranee denied the accusation, explaining that she divorced Pitiphum a long time ago but that he was jealous and conspired with his friend to kidnap her.
Withdraw case for son
Pitiphum then got out of the car to assist Rattapong in forcing Daranee back inside and shutting the door. They sped away but the car was eventually intercepted by police officers near Soi Pracha Uthit 93 in the Thung Khru district of Bangkok.
Later, Daranee visited Thung Khru Police Station with her mother to file a complaint against her ex-husband. She was seen with visible wounds and bruises resulting from the abduction.
Daranee revealed that she and Pitiphum were in a relationship for three years and shared a three year old son, but she sought a divorce in May due to financial issues. However, Pitiphum refused to accept the separation and continued to harass her.
Pitiphum’s father later arrived at the police station with the young grandson. He told police that his son loved Daranee deeply but that financial problems caused their separation.
The father admitted he was angry at his son’s actions but pleaded with Daranee to withdraw the charges, citing the impact on their child.
Daranee eventually agreed to her ex-father-in-law’s request, saying she did not want her son to witness legal conflict between his parents.
Police made Pitiphum promise never to harass or harm Daranee again.
