Thai woman missing in Oman after abuse by Bangladeshi boyfriend

A Thai woman has been missing for three months her parents revealed, adding that they fear for her life after friends made known she was a victim of abuse by her Bangladeshi boyfriend in Oman. Before her disappearance, she informed a friend about suffering physical abuse at the hands of her boyfriend.
The local Facebook news page, Lampang Variety, shared a missing poster of the woman, identified as Athitiya “Mind” Wilachan, yesterday, January 20. Mind, a resident of Mae Mo district in the northern province of Lampang, had gone to Oman to meet her boyfriend and seek work.
According to the post, Mind’s boyfriend, a Bangladeshi national, is alleged to have been involved in drug dealing. Her friends reported that they lost contact with her in November last year but assumed she was still with her boyfriend.
However, two weeks ago, Mind’s boyfriend was arrested but she was not found with him. Her friends in Oman contacted the embassy to check if she returned to Thailand but there were no records of her travel.
Friends revealed that Mind had been suffering physical assaults since her arrival in Oman, frequently sharing pictures of her injuries. She also expressed fear for her life, saying that her boyfriend, who was reportedly wanted on multiple arrest warrants, had previously killed three women.

Mind’s boyfriend allegedly forced her to take drugs, leaving her extremely thin and unwell. He also used her social media account to send threatening messages to her friends, warning them not to help her.
Her friends took to social media to search for her, and a relative named Phung came across the post and informed Mind’s parents, Singkham and Boonsri Wilachan.

Boonsri is reportedly distraught and has been in tears since learning of her daughter’s disappearance. She expressed deep concern after seeing pictures of Mind with visible wounds and bruises.
Singkham told the media that Mind left Thailand in 2020 to work abroad. She returned home for a visit, sent money to her parents, and had recently bought a motorcycle for him.
He described his daughter as being unlucky in love, often encountering men who brought her trouble. He is now desperately seeking government assistance to locate her.
The district chief of Mae Mo visited Singkham and Boonsri at their home on January 20. The case has been referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
