Little thieves in big trouble: Teenagers nabbed for stealing motorcycles

Chachoengsao province was rocked by a cheeky two-wheeled crime spree as local police uncovered a shocking twist: the culprits behind the stolen motorcycles were none other than a trio of audacious teenagers aged just 13 to 15.

Leading the pint-sized pilferers was a 15 year old ringleader with a foot already in legal trouble, having been out on bail for a previous theft charge. Yet freedom didn’t teach him any lessons as the bandit brigade struck again in Bang Khunak.

Officers from the Bang Khunak Police Station yesterday, February 20, hauled in the three delinquents, accompanied by their embarrassed guardians, to face questioning by Police Lieutenant Somyot Chanthalerd.

The teenagers were nabbed at home, where the missing motorcycles, last seen at Khlong 19 Railway Station in Bang Nam Priao district, were stashed.

The victims, who left their bikes at the station around 5.30am to catch the city-bound train for school, returned at 5pm to an empty stand. But thanks to eagle-eyed police work and some strategic CCTV sleuthing, the hot wheels trail led straight back to the juvenile joyriders’ hideout.

Investigations revealed the ringleader’s repeat pattern: with a penchant for nicking bikes and a pending case already casting a shadow, he boldly struck again. This time, he dismantled the stolen rides, cannibalising parts to build his own motorcycle instead.

Parents of the pint-sized perpetrators insisted their children were “generally well-behaved,” despite evidence saying otherwise. Meanwhile, the relieved victims expressed their gratitude to the diligent police force, reported KhaoSod.

“We are very happy to have our motorcycles back and thank the police for recovering them in just one day.”

For these light-fingered tykes, the jig is up and they now face a harsh lesson in responsibility as they prepare to answer for their escapades.

In similar news, police in Bangkok’s Thakham district arrested a 26 year old man from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province and a 20 year old from Bangkok.

The police seized a red Honda PCX motorcycle used in the crime, a stolen blue Honda Wave motorcycle, a white half-helmet, and clothing worn during the incident on February 17.
