Thai man stabbed for allegedly peeking at granddaughter in bathroom
A Thai man stabbed his father-in-law after accusing him of peeking at his 13 year old daughter while she was taking a shower. The injured father-in-law denied the accusation, saying he only fixed an electric wire outside the bathroom.
Neighbours who witnessed the stabbing outside a house in the Chai Badan district in the central province of Lopburi reported it to officers at Chai Badan Police Station and the rescue team on the night of November 22.
On arrival, officers found the injured Thai man, 66 year old Autsah Bornthaisong, with stab wounds to his back and arms. Autsah was taken to Chai Badan Hospital for treatment. He is reported to be recovering as the attack did not affect any vital organs.
Witnesses told police that Autsah’s son-in-law, 37 year old Chaiya Sarmphusi, was the attacker. Chaiya fled the scene after the stabbing with his two daughters, aged 13 and eight.
According to the neighbours, Chaiya had just moved into the house after marrying Autsah’s daughter, 35 year old Kewalee Bornthaisong. Chaiya had two daughters with his ex-wife and shared a four month old daughter with Kewalee.
On the day of the incident, Chaiya accused Autsah of peeking at his 13 year old daughter while she was taking a shower. Chaiya and Autsah got into a heated argument, which later led to the stabbing.
After receiving treatment, Autsah told the police and media about the incident. He said Chaiya came home from fishing and saw him fixing the electric wire outside the bathroom. Chaiya mistook that for peeping at his daughter in the shower but he denied this was the case.
Autsah said he noticed that the light in the bathroom was flickering. So, he stood on a chair and checked the electric wire. There was a space between the bathroom wall and the roof but insists he did not look into the bathroom.
Police said they would issue a summons for Chaiya and question him in more detail before pressing charges.
