A 25 year old Thai man was arrested for allegedly luring an 18 year old special needs girl onto his motorcycle and taking her to a secluded area where he committed indecent acts. The police caught him at his grandfather’s house following a warrant issued earlier.

The Songkhla Provincial Police, together with Hat Yai Police and the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, apprehended Natthaphon from Khao Phra in Rattaphum district, Songkhla province. He was wanted under a warrant issued by the Songkhla Provincial Court on July 2 for charges including rape, coercion, and committing obscene acts.

Dutthit Promsidh, the Head of Songkhla Provincial Police, stated that the suspect had been hiding at his grandfather’s house in Khao Phra, and officers managed to apprehend him without incident.

Natthaphon allegedly lured the young girl, who was standing outside her house in Hat Yai, onto his motorcycle on March 5 at around 8pm. He then took her to a secluded spot in the Saphan Dam community and committed indecent acts before returning her home. The girl’s parents noticed something was wrong when she arrived home and reported the incident to Hat Yai Police.

During the investigation, Natthaphon admitted to taking the girl but denied using force or raping her, claiming he was drunk at the time. He narrated that he was drinking with friends at his employer’s house when he saw the girl standing with a younger sibling outside her home. He called her over, took her on his motorcycle to a secluded area, and committed indecent acts.

“I was drunk and didn’t realise the severity of my actions. I didn’t use force or rape her, but I understand my mistake.”

The girl’s parents learned about the incident after neighbours reported seeing Natthaphon taking her away. They tried to contact him, and he eventually brought her back home before fleeing. On discovering signs of abuse, the parents immediately reported the matter to the Hat Yai Police.

The police collected evidence and witness statements, leading to the court issuing a warrant for Natthaphon’s arrest. The authorities tracked him down to his grandfather’s house, where he had been hiding since the incident, reported KhaoSod.

“We have gathered substantial evidence and witness testimonies to proceed with the charges against Natthaphon. The case will follow due legal process to ensure justice for the victim.”
