Spectacular 70 year old mango tree in Surin draws crowds
A 70 year old forest mango tree in Surin is drawing crowds as it blooms spectacularly, with people stopping to take photos. Enthusiasts are also on the lookout for lucky numbers, with some spotting numbers like 37 and 15 at the tree’s base.
The tree, believed to be between 60 and 70 years old, stands about 10 metres tall with a trunk that requires two people to encircle. Located near the Surin-Chom Phra road, just before the Chom Phra district intersection, this majestic tree is in full bloom, with flower clusters stretching 70 to 80 centimetres in length.
The striking display has caught the attention of passersby who are captivated by its beauty and the fragrant aroma permeating the area.
Yesterday, January 28, locals and visitors alike were seen stopping their vehicles to admire the tree’s blossoming splendour. Many travelled from different districts or even from Bangkok to witness the phenomenon firsthand.
Visitors were quick to capture selfies with the tree as its blooms reached nearly to the ground.
At the tree’s base, offerings such as incense, candles, and drinks were placed as part of a ritual to seek blessings. Some people sprinkled powder around the trunk, hoping to discern lucky numbers.
Among the numbers seen were 37 and 15, while a previously noted number from incense sticks was 413. These numbers are being used by some to try their luck in the upcoming government lottery on February 1, reported KhaoSod.
People interested in witnessing the tree’s beauty are encouraged to visit soon, as the blossoms are expected to fall and turn into fruit by next week.
In similar news, a woman from Uttaradit visited Wat Mai Samakkhi in Mueang district, Phetchabun province, to offer 99 trays of eggs and 99 bunches of bananas to the sacred Buddha statue, Luang Pho Ham Chon.
This gesture of gratitude follows her good fortune derived from the statue over three consecutive lottery draws.
