Phone fiend: Thai woman calls out thief in Nonthaburi (video)
A Thai woman is demanding police arrest a thief who repeatedly stole mobile phones in the Nonthaburi province near Bangkok. In her case, she admitted falling victim to the serial thief after leaving the front door of her home open while she slept.
The victim, 30 year old Sunanta, took to social media to warn others about the theft, which occurred at her home in the Bang Bua Thong district of Nonthaburi province on Tuesday, July 16. Another Thai woman commented on her post, stating that the same thief previously stole her phone at her home.
Sunanta told Channel 3 that she fell asleep while using her mobile phone and left the front door open. When she woke up, she could not find her phone. She borrowed her neighbour’s mobile phone and tried to call her own but was unsuccessful.
Sunanta then checked the community’s security cameras and spotted a suspicious man, aged approximately 50 years old. The man was seen parking his motorcycle, a Honda Scoopy I, in front of Sunanta’s home at around 10am.
The man shouted into the house to check if anyone was home. After receiving no response, he carefully entered Sunanta’s home and took the phone while she was asleep. He then left the community on his motorcycle.
Sunanta disclosed that three other people in the community informed her they also fell victim to the same thief on the same day. The man stole from a house in Soi Ladpraduke, Sunanta’s home, and another house in a nearby village. Some netizens told her the man had previously committed thefts in the Rangsit neighbourhood of Nonthaburi.
Sunanta admitted that her carelessness in leaving her home open contributed to the theft but she believes officers should take the matter seriously because the thief has committed multiple thefts before.
She added that she was lucky the thief only stole her phone and did not harm her or murder her for more valuables.
