Police officers in the southern province of Krabi allegedly allowed a Turkish man to remain at large, despite the foreigner damaging two locals’ cars in the area.

A Thai scuba diving trainer sought assistance from Channel 7 after her complaint, filed at Ao Nang Police Station, was ignored. Police reportedly told her that they could not arrest the foreign suspect because the incident was not considered a flagrant offence.

The victim shared a video with the media showing her car being damaged on February 12 by the 33 year old Turkish man, whose name remains undisclosed. In the footage, the foreigner is seen picking up a rock from the ground, crossing the road, and throwing it at the victim’s parked car.

According to the victim, police initially brought the Turkish man to the station. However, during questioning, the foreigner reportedly physically assaulted the officers and caused damage to property inside the police station. This prompted the police to detain him in jail, only to release him two days later.

The victim stated that the man was jailed solely for his assault on police officers, while no action was taken regarding her case.

Following the police’s inaction, the Turkish man reportedly committed another offence at 2am, yesterday, February 16. He allegedly used a large stick to smash the windscreen of another car in the area.

Both the scuba diving trainer and the second victim asserted that they did not know the foreigner personally and had never had any conflict with him.

Despite clear evidence of the Turkish man’s violent actions, police have allegedly continued to allow him to remain at large. As of now, officers from Ao Nang Police Station have yet to clarify the situation to the public.

In a similar incident, another foreign man was caught smashing the window of a Thai man’s car in Phuket in April last year. The foreigner claimed that his friend had left a phone inside the car, prompting him to break the window to retrieve it. However, the car owner insisted no phone was left in the vehicle and called the police to arrest the man.

Another case was reported in August last year, when a foreign driver damaged a Thai woman’s car following a road dispute in Phuket. There has been no report of the suspect’s arrest or any legal punishment.
