Disney launches special pop-up event at Asiatique The Riverfront
Walt Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a special event at Asiatique The Riverfront in Bangkok next month.
Wanlapa Trisorut, the Managing Director of Asset World Corporation, announced a business expansion plan that involves investing over 800 million baht in Asiatique The Riverfront.
The goal is to transform the open-air mall into Bangkok’s largest riverside retail destination, catering to tourists and locals of all ages.
As part of this expansion, Asset World Corporation teamed up with Disney to create a special pop-up event called Disney100 Village. The event will showcase beloved characters from the Disney princess collection, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars to tell the story of Disney’s 100 years of providing entertainment for audiences worldwide.
The event will be held at Asiatique for four months, from March 24 to July 31. The event area will feature five main themes, including Frozen, Pixar Putt, Marvel, Disney Princess Garden, and Star Wars. Entrance tickets will be available on Thaiticketmajor.com from Friday, February 24.
According to a report on Brand Buffet, the Star Wars zone will be available to visit free of charge. Frozen’s Princess Elsa will transform over 2,000 square metres area into a Disney exhibition while Pixar will show off one of its most popular animations, Toy Story.
In addition to the Disney100 Village event, visitors can enjoy the Asiatique amusement zone which includes the Asiatique Sky, Thailand’s highest Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, a mysterious mansion, and a performance at the Calypso Cabaret Theater. Bangkok’s longest promenade along the river also offers various food and beverage selections.
Asiatique is collaborating with local supermarket Big C to offer unique products and souvenir collections. The expansion will add a lifestyle market that targets people who love pets, house furniture and decoration, vintage products, and fashion items.
Wanlapa added that the company plans to build the highest building in Thailand near the Asiatique. The company will invest about 2 billion baht in the 100-floor building which was designed by the architecture firm, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG).
Asiatique The Riverfront is situated along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, between Soi Charoen Krung 72 and 76. The place was transformed from the former docks of the East Asiatic Company and has been operating for ten years since 2012.
