2 Thai men assaulted after asking about lost wallet from attackers

Victims stabbed and beaten as mob erupts without warning

Two Thai men searching for a lost wallet at a public park in the central province of Chanthaburi ended up being assaulted by a group of men.

The older brother of one of the victims, 32 year old Oh, provided details of the gang attack, which occurred at a public park near Sirikarn Pond in the Tha Chang sub-district of Chanthaburi. The exact date of the incident was not specified in the report.

Oh explained that his brother, 21 year old Aum, and Aum’s friend, 24 year old Kong, had been enjoying the evening atmosphere at the park. At some point, they discovered that one of their wallets was missing.

The pair later returned to the park to search for the wallet but were unsuccessful. They then approached a group of more than ten men nearby to enquire about it.

Unexpectedly, one man in the group instigated a confrontation by challenging them to a fight. Before the victims could respond, the gang launched a violent assault.

Both men were repeatedly punched and kicked, despite pleas from their female friend for the attackers to stop.

The situation worsened when one of the assailants stabbed Aum in the back, and another struck Kong in the face with a hard, unidentified object. Witnesses quickly alerted police and emergency responders, prompting the gang to flee the scene.

Aum sustained a serious stab wound to his back, while Kong suffered a fractured nose and a severe eye injury. Both men are now in stable condition and are awaiting medical certificates to file a formal complaint against the attackers.

Residents told Channel 7 that the park is a popular social gathering spot and had previously been peaceful, until this group of troublemakers moved into the area.

According to locals, the gang frequently causes disturbances by revving motorcycle engines and making excessive noise.

As of now, police have not yet identified the suspects responsible for the attack.
