Thai man stabs ex-girlfriend 12 times in Bangkok rented room

A Thai man murdered his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her 12 times in a rented room in Bangkok on Saturday, 19 April, after seeing her with a new boyfriend.
Officers from Wat Phraya Krai Police Station, along with a medical team from Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital, rushed to assist the victim, 28 year old Nattacha Tojeen, and arrested the perpetrator, 29 year old Phanudate Butsaksaeng. The pair were found in a rented room on the eighth floor of the building.
Nattacha was found lying on the floor near her bed, struggling to breathe. Phanudate, her ex-boyfriend, was crying beside her. He was under the influence of alcohol and still holding the 30-centimetre knife used in the attack.
The medical team attempted to resuscitate Nattacha with CPR but were, unfortunately, unable to save her. She sustained 12 stab wounds across her body and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Phanudate revealed that he and Nattacha had been in a relationship for many years and had previously worked together at a jewellery company in the Silom area of Bangkok. They broke up during the Songkran festival, and he had been trying to reconcile with her.

On the day of the incident, Phanudate visited her room and found her with another man. He broke into the room and punched her new boyfriend in the face, causing him to flee. Phanudate then argued with Nattacha before stabbing her repeatedly in a fit of rage.

The victim’s new boyfriend, 24 year old Nattawut, told Channel 7 that he ran out to seek help from Nattacha’s friend who lived in the same building. When he returned, he found her lying on the floor, bleeding from multiple wounds.
Nattacha’s family collected her body from the hospital and transported it to a temple in her home province of Chai Nat, in central Thailand, for her funeral.

Phanudate has been charged under Section 288 of the Criminal Law for intentional murder. The penalty ranges from 15 to 20 years’ imprisonment, life imprisonment, or the death penalty. He is currently being held at Bangkok South Criminal Court.
