Bangkok motorcycle repairman shot dead over pawn dispute
Escalating tensions turn deadly as conflict leads to fatal shooting

A motorcycle repairman was fatally shot in the early hours of today, May 9, in his shop on Soi Phatthanakan 32, Suan Luang district, Bangkok. The attack, which also left another person injured, stemmed from a dispute over a motorcycle pawn agreement.
Police Lieutenant Phuwadej Wanichyobol, an investigator from Khlong Tan Police Station, was alerted to the incident at 1am. Accompanied by Police Colonel Phisit Miwiriyakul, Deputy Superintendent Thanakorn Ngamyen, and forensic and medical teams, they found 28 year old Sugiphlee Mage at the scene.
He was lying on the floor in his shop with gunshot wounds to the head, body, and ankle, totalling five shots, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured man, identified as 33 year old Adun Mage, a relative of the deceased, suffered a graze wound to his neck and was transported to Vibhavadi Hospital. Investigators discovered five .32 calibre shell casings scattered in front of the shop.
Witnesses reported that around 9pm yesterday, May 8, a group of over 10 young people arrived on multiple motorcycles at the repair shop. The group had a previous altercation with Adun, prompting the deceased to intervene and attempt to resolve the issue.
However, the discussion failed, and the group left, threatening to return. Sugiphlee subsequently contacted a close friend, warning them of the potential danger from the Ramkhamhaeng area group.

Around midnight, the assailants returned to the shop, calling for Sugiphlee to step outside before opening fire, striking him multiple times in the head and body, leading to his death.
The deceased’s mother revealed that the conflict involved a motorcycle pawn agreement. Adun had pawned a motorcycle from the assailants, which was later repossessed by a finance company due to unpaid instalments by the original owner, leading to the dispute and subsequent attack, reported KhaoSod.
Police are currently investigating the incident, interviewing witnesses and the injured party, and reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators for legal action.
