Qatar Airways set to return to Phuket

Qatar Airways is set to return to Phuket by offering limited flights after the coronavirus pandemic halted services to the resort island. in March this year The middle eastern airline says it is planning a weekly flight between Doha and Phuket from December 4 and is seeking permission from Thai authorities to increase the number of flights between the 2 destinations on December 10.

Qatar Airways already operates flights twice a day between Doha and Bangkok to transport Thai returnees, people authorised to visit Thailand and those with work permits. Those travelling on those flights are required to show a fit-to-fly certificate before boarding and must enter quarantine after arriving in Thailand.

The Thai government has recently begun allowing tourists back in under the special tourist visa scheme with Phuket being the other entry point, in addition to Bangkok. Qatar Airways will be the second airline from the Middle East to resume flights to Thailand after the Emirates, which services the Dubai-Phuket route.
