Woman arrested in Phuket over boyfriend’s drug business
A woman was arrested due to her connections with her boyfriend’s illicit drug business. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Royal Thai Police confirmed the arrest of 24 year old Jaruwan Sriwilas in connection with her boyfriend’s illicit drug business.
Jaruwan’s boyfriend was discovered one year ago with 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (‘ya ice’), and over 400,000 methamphetamine pills, commonly known as Yaba.
A warrant for Jaruwan’s arrest was issued in September, The Phuket News reported. Jaruwan was arrested in Phuket Town yesterday in a joint operation involving the CIB and the Crime Suppression Division (CSD). Both branches of the Royal Thai Police are known for investigating high-profile cases.
The CIB named the place of the arrest as “next to a convenience store in the area of Talad Yai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket Province.” No further information was provided by the CIB, and nothing has been reported in connection with the arrest by Phuket Provincial Police or Mueang Phuket Police.
Jurwawan’s boyfriend, known only by his first name Pornchai and nickname Jod Tha Sala, was apprehended in Nakhon Sri Thammarat a year ago with 4 kilograms of ice and over 400,000 Yaba pills. It took investigators several months to gather enough proof of Jaruwan’s involvement in her boyfriend’s illegal business, according to MGR Online.
An arrest warrant for Jaruwan was issued by the Nakhon Sri Thammarat Provincial Court on September 7, 2022. Once police officers discovered her hiding in Phuket, they arrested her on May 5, 2023. Jaruwan was then transferred to Nakhon Sri Thammarat and handed over to the Tha Sala Police.
According to the CIB, Jaruwan was arrested on charges of “conspiring with two or more people to commit a serious drug-related offence and committing serious offences related to narcotics.” MGR Online reported she was involved in her boyfriend’s business – a large drug operation in the Tha Sala district of Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province.
