A flurry of controversy has erupted after a video surfaced online showing a groom intimately embracing a woman, not the bride, during his wedding ceremony in Vietnam. The bride, unable to bear witness to the brazen display, eventually picked up her long skirt and exited the scene alone amid the shocked gasps of wedding guests.

The wedding ceremony in Vietnam took an unexpected turn when a woman clad in a black dress entered the scene. She was greeted by the groom who, in a disconcerting display of intimacy, wrapped his arm around her waist and drew her into a close embrace. Even more shocking was when he leaned in, seemingly preparing to kiss this woman, as his bewildered bride watched from the sidelines. This audacious act unfolded before an audience of utterly stunned wedding guests.

Visibly hurt and disgraced by her husband’s overly intimate interaction with this other woman during what was supposed to mark the beginning of their shared life, the bride’s anger grew increasingly palpable. As the pair continued their affectionate revelry oblivious to her distress, she eventually grabbed her flowing dress and walked off the stage alone. It was only then that the groom seemed to grasp the gravity of his actions, looking shocked and attempting to restrain his departing bride, while the woman in the black dress continued to smile, seemingly under the impression that it was some sort of a joke.

The incident concluded with the disgraced bride picking up a divorce application form, signifying an abrupt end to their relationship despite objections from some people present, reported Sanook.

The incident sparked a wave of criticism online, as netizens lambasted the groom and his female friend for their actions. Many also voiced their support for the bride’s decision to file for divorce.

On the afternoon of July 5, the woman known as T clarified the situation, admitting she was the woman in the viral video. She explained that she and the groom have been close friends for a long time, often live-streaming together on TikTok. On the day of the incident, she had travelled over 1,000 kilometres from Hanoi to Đắk Lắk to attend the pair’s wedding ceremony. The event caught on camera, she claimed, was staging one scene, with the consent of the bride.

However, she acknowledged the backlash from the viral video, admitting it had caused a degree of distress but with no significant impact on her life. She assured everyone that the groom and the bride are happily honeymooning, “What happened does not affect my life. The groom and I continue to live as normal. The bride was not heartbroken at all. She was perfectly aware he and I were filming a TikTok video.”
