Phuket Food Festival underway in City of Gastronomy

PHUKET: The Eighth Annual Phuket Local Food Festival started at Saphan Hin on Wednesday night, with delicious local delicacies being served up by Phuket Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada.
“This is a great fair that all tourists should know about, as it shows how beautifully unique Phuket is,” Governor Chamoren said.
“Additionally, we have just been named as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, which guarantees guests that our special culture and cuisine cannot be found anywhere else in the world.”
As part of the opening festivities, leading Phuket officials mixed up a giant vat of sip-juan, a local soup.
“There are many other exhibits and stalls at the festival that offer local food and dessert cooking demonstrations, as well as stage performances and musical entertainment,” Gov Chamroen said.
The festival runs until Sunday.
