Russian motorcyclist seriously injured after allegedly running red light

A Russian motorcyclist reportedly ran a red light on a road in Pattaya and collided with a sedan car, resulting in severe injuries.
Mueang Pattaya Police Station and the Sawang Borriboon Dhammastan Rescue Foundation were alerted to the accident near the entrance of an entertainment venue at 5.19am yesterday, March 25. The incident took place on Pattaya Sai Sam Road in the Bang Lamung district of Pattaya.
At the scene, the emergency team encountered the damaged motorcycle and sedan. The Thai driver of the sedan, 55 year old Weerasak, told police that he exited the entertainment venue, changed lanes, and was heading towards the intersection.
Unexpectedly, Weerasak saw the motorcyclist approaching his car at high speed. He braked hard but was unable to stop in time, resulting in a collision. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the car’s bonnet before falling onto the road.
The driver got out of his vehicle to check on the motorcyclist and discovered that he was a foreigner. According to a picture shared on the Facebook page of the rescue team, one of the foreign man’s legs was trapped under the sedan’s damaged front bumper.

The motorcyclist was later identified as 38 year old Russian national Aleksandr Vasilev. Rescuers reported that Vasilev ignored the red light at the intersection, causing him to collide lightly with Weerasak’s car.
There were no reports on whether either party was under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, no updates on the condition of the Russian man were mentioned by any news agencies.

In a separate incident, another Russian national was caught driving dangerously on Koh Pha Ngan, an island in the southern province of Surat Thani.
Tourist Police officers stopped the Russian driver, 38 year old Iurii Dumchev, and his Russian girlfriend on Chalok Lam-Ban Thong Sala Road today, March 26.
Dumchev was reportedly driving his sedan at high speed and cutting off other motorists. Police found two e-cigarettes in his possession, and he later confessed to using cocaine before driving.
