Pattaya man allegedly threatens tourists with knife at mall

A young man allegedly wandered around the parking lot of a Pattaya mall threatening tourists with a knife yesterday. Pattaya Police detained the man at Pattaya Police Station, and claim he was incoherent and couldn’t properly answer questions. The man had also reportedly been talking in circles.

Witnesses called the police immediately after seeing him walk around brandishing the long knife. The police reportedly had to use special equipment to subdue him, and the man did not identify himself. The alleged incident happened at the parking lot of a mall on Second Road. The man reportedly might be a foreign national from a country neighbouring Thailand.

A similar incident happened when a drunk man carried a large knife and threatened tourists on Pattaya Beach in 2020. He reportedly yelled incoherently as he threatened people. Police were called by local vendors after the man continued to be a nuisance in the area. The man was cooperative with police and stated he was “just drunk” and wanted to go home to Bangkok.

In January, a foreigner allegedly shouted at and tried to pick fights with locals at a supermarket in South Pattaya. Police said he seemed very intoxicated. They eventually arrested the man and brought him to the station to slap him with multiple legal charges. Police said the man didn’t cooperate, was aggressive, and threatened them.
