Booze cruise: Drunk foreign man rescued from drowning in Pattaya

Locals safely rescued an drunk foreign man from drowning yesterday after he swam out into the sea at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya.
According to a report by Channel 7, the rescue took place last night, April 6, near the Dong Tarn booth of the Mueang Pattaya Police Station. Locals observed the foreign man walking into the dark waters and appearing to be on the verge of drowning.
They alerted police officers and rescuers, who were able to bring the man safely back to shore. The man was reportedly exhausted and unable to communicate with officers after choking on seawater.
Rescuers administered first aid before rushing him to hospital. The rescue team noted a strong smell of alcohol coming from his body. His name and nationality were not disclosed in the report.
It’s not the first time an intoxicated foreigner has been saved by rescuers in Pattaya. Two weeks ago, emergency services responded to an incident on Sai Song Road after an American man was found lying in the road, blocking traffic due to his inebriation. Rescuers spent more than 30 minutes attempting to persuade the man to move, but were unsuccessful.

Police officers were then called to the scene. Upon their arrival, the man appeared to sober up and immediately walked away from the scene.
In another case, a drunk foreign man overturned his Mercedes-Benz in Chon Buri. Witnesses reported that he was driving at high speed and nearly crashed into a portrait of His Majesty the King of Thailand.

Further chaos involving drunken foreigners was reported in January, when an inebriated foreign man collided with a food cart in Pattaya, resulting in injuries to the vendor. The man’s Thai girlfriend attempted to defend him, claiming she was the one driving the vehicle.

The same couple, reportedly intoxicated, caused a disturbance in a Phuket community the week before. The foreign woman overturned a rented MG sedan and proceeded to dance around the vehicle without showing any sign of remorse.
