Vulnerable Bangkok students to receive Pfizer vaccines later this month
Adolescents, notably vulnerable students, in Bangkok will receive Pfizer vaccines later this month. The students, between the ages of 12 and 18, should get their vaccine at Navamindradhiraj University starting September 21, said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration yesterday.
The eligible students, who’ve been assessed by a doctor, must provide proof of having a disability, illness, or a chronic condition. The proof can consist of a medical certificate, a medical appointment letter, a disability certificate, or a document proving the patient has a chronic illness, says the BMA.
One of the groups that will be prioritised are adolescents with any of the seven chronic conditions and or obesity. The students can be marked as obese if they are between the ages of 12 and 13 and weigh 70 kilograms or more. Or, if they are between the ages of 13 and 15 and weigh 80 kilograms or more. Finally, if they are between the ages of 15 and 18 and weigh 90 kilograms or more. It was not stated if the officials would take the height of the students into consideration.
The 7 chronic conditions, according to the Nation Thailand are:
- Sleep apnoea
- Chronic respiratory disease
- Cardiovascular disease
- Chronic renal disease
- Cancer
- Hypothyroidism
- Diabetes
The Nation Thailand says the list of 7 also includes hereditary diseases, which includes Down syndrome. Yesterday, the Thaiger wrote how the government is planning to reopen 68 schools in Thailand sometime soon.
