Thai woman disappears after argument with her husband
A Thai woman went missing after an argument with her husband in their car at 3am on Sunday. The husband claimed that his wife jumped out of the car and ran away from him, with the GPS indicating her last known location in Chachoengsao province.
A friend of the missing 27 year old Thai woman, Chonlada Muthurong, took to social media yesterday, February 19 to share a missing person poster and urged netizens to notify her if they have any information on Chonlada.
The friend mentioned that Chonlada was typically active on social media but, from 3am on February 18 onwards, she lost contact with everyone. Chonlada was last seen wearing a black and white mini dress, according to reports.
The friend clarified the situation publicly, explaining that Chonlada and her friends had celebrated the birthday of Chonlada’s husband, Sirichai Rakthong, a 33 year old man, at a restaurant on Pradit Manutham Road, also known as Liab duan Ramindra Road, in Bangkok.
The restaurant closed at 1am and each person travelled home separately. Chonlada returned home with Sirichai and their daughter in their white BMW sedan. An argument erupted in the car, prompting Chonlada to flee and subsequently vanish.
Sirichai commented on his friend’s post that he filed a missing persons’ complaint at Pak Kret Police Station. He mentioned checking Chonlada’s GPS location, which indicated she was in Chachoengsao province. Sirichai admitted to physically assaulting Chonlada during the argument.
According to Sirichai and Chonlada’s friend, Chonlada had run away from Sirichai several times before, usually taking her daughter and staying with friends for a few days before returning home.
Repeated arguments, assaults
Sirichai later spoke in an interview with KhaoSod, stating that Chonlada had opened the car door and leapt out on Khlong Prapa Road. He halted the car, retrieved her, and resumed driving. However, Chonlada once again jumped out of the car near their residence, crossing the road to evade him.
Chonlada’s mother, Pen, shared with Channel 7 her confusion regarding Sirichai’s lack of active efforts to locate Chonlada following her disappearance. Pen noted that Sirichai implied Chonlada might not return, suggesting she would move on. Although Sirichai assured Pen he would persist in searching for Chonlada, Pen expressed her distrust in her son-in-law.
Pen disclosed that she also discovered from Chonlada’s friends that Sirichai had assaulted Chonlada multiple times, including incidents of choking and placing his foot on her face. Witnessing Sirichai’s abusive behaviour caused Pen to lose faith in him.
The most recent update from Chonlada’s friend indicates that Chonlada has yet to make contact with anyone, and there is no new information from the police regarding the case.
