Thai security guard found dead with e-cigarette and drug paraphernalia
Electrocution in recently renovated dormitory suspected as cause of death

An unpleasant smell at a dormitory in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok led to the discovery of the naked dead body of a Thai security guard yesterday, June 5.
A 41 year old man, Chaiwat, contacted officers from Bang Srimueang Police Station and rescuers from the Por Teck Tung Foundation to investigate the death of his neighbour, 48 year old Charnchai, in the evening.
Chaiwat explained that he and other residents of the dormitory had been searching for the source of the bad odour for several days. They eventually determined it was coming from Charnchai’s room. Upon forcing the door open, they discovered his corpse.
Police reported that Charnchai was found naked on his bed, with an e-cigarette in his right hand. Officers searched the room and found paraphernalia associated with the use of crystal meth. The tool was made from a plastic bottle. Although no drug substances were present.
Rescue workers suspect the man may have died from electrocution, as his body was near a plug socket with multiple electrical wires connected. He may have been attempting to charge his e-cigarette when the incident occurred.

Chaiwat told Channel 8 that Charnchai worked as a security guard at a high school located opposite the dormitory. He had moved into the room only three or four days before his death. The room had recently undergone renovation.
Officers reviewed Charnchai’s medical history and found he had been receiving treatment for tuberculosis (TB), including prescribed medication. However, the condition was not believed to have been fatal. His body has been sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

In a separate incident, another tragic discovery was reported on Wednesday, June 4, on Koh Pha Ngan, in the southern province of Surat Thani. A local found the half-naked body of a British woman on Haad Rin Beach, the venue of the popular Full Moon Party.
The woman was wearing only an orange bra, with her underwear later found nearby. No visible injuries were observed, and her body has been transferred to a hospital for autopsy.
