Thai caretaker denies killing bedridden patient despite grim search history
Suicide research blamed for searches on cyanide, electric shock, and sleeping pills

A Thai caretaker denied murdering and robbing a bedridden woman she looked after, despite suspicious Internet search history revealing various methods of killing and a bloodstain found on her motorcycle.
The victim, 53 year old Sriprai, was discovered dead at her home in Ban Pong district on July 17. Her caretaker, 64 year old Nittaya, was the first to find her body and alerted Sriprai’s neighbours and family members.
A sum of 7,500 baht, which was reportedly placed in Sriprai’s pocket, was missing. Nittaya told police that she borrowed the amount from Sriprai’s sisters and repaid it by putting the cash in Sriprai’s pocket.
However, Sriprai’s family later told Channel 8 that Nittaya actually owed them 170,000 baht, not 7,500, as she claimed. Despite this, the family said they were not entirely convinced she was involved in the death.
An autopsy revealed that Sriprai was struck on the head with a hard object, resulting in her death. Police are currently searching for the murder weapon.

Suspicion fell on Nittaya, though officers initially lacked solid evidence linking her to the crime. Nittaya has continued to insist on her innocence. According to Channel 8, she often became angry when questioned by police or journalists.
Upon examining Nittaya’s mobile phone, police discovered disturbing searches from June, including: how to use cyanide, how to kill someone with an electric shock, and how to kill someone using excessive sleeping pills.

When questioned, the caretaker claimed she researched suicide methods. When asked why she did not consider more accessible methods like hanging or drowning, Nittaya reportedly fell silent.
Investigators also found that her phone was switched off while she was riding her motorcycle from Sriprai’s house to her own home on the day of the incident. Nittaya denied this, claiming her battery might have run out. She again lashed out at police, shouting…
“I didn’t turn off the phone! It might’ve run out of battery. Stop it! I didn’t do anything. Don’t play silent with me and stop forcing me to confess. A hundred years or a thousand years in jail? I don’t care! I didn’t do it.”

Police checked Nittaya’s motorcycle and found suspicious substances, believed to be bloodstains, on the vehicle. The substances require further investigation to confirm whether it was blood or not.
Channel 8 later reported that Nittaya disappeared from her residence following her latest questioning by police. The investigation into Sriprai’s death remains ongoing.
