Agriculture minister visits flood-hit Nan and Sukhothai provinces
Officials plan relief efforts for communities suffering crop loss and livestock disruption

Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Atthakorn Sirilattayakorn will visit Nan and Sukhothai provinces tomorrow and Saturday to assess the flood situation following the impact of Tropical Storm Wipha.
The minister emphasised the importance of supporting affected farmers and ensuring they are not left to face the disaster alone.
Today, July 24, Atthakorn stated that Tropical Storm Wipha had caused heavy rainfall, leading to breaches in flood barriers, inundating Nan province. The flooding has affected urban areas, as well as extensive agricultural and livestock areas, causing significant damage to crops and water sources.
In response, Atthakorn will be visiting both Nan and Sukhothai on July 25-26 to evaluate flood management efforts and inspect projects impacted by drought and flooding. He aims to provide close support to residents and farmers.

Tomorrow at 12pm, Atthakorn will visit Nan province to review the flood situation in affected agricultural areas. He will engage with local administration officials and farmers to devise systematic water management and assistance strategies.
Additionally, he will distribute survival kits to impacted farmers. On Saturday, July 26, Atthakorn will proceed to Sukhothai, a region known for receiving water from the Yom River basin, particularly the main Yom River that flows through Sukhothai town.
The minister’s itinerary in Sukhothai includes inspecting key sites such as the Yom-Nan Canal sluice gate, the sluice gate at kilometre 22 in Khlong Krachong subdistrict, Sawankhalok district, the electric water pumping station on the Yom-Nan Canal, Phra Ruang Bridge, and high-risk areas along the Mae Thang Creek.
He will also attend a meeting with representatives from various agencies and community leaders in the Yom River basin, listening to suggestions from locals directly, reported KhaoSod.
Atthakorn stressed the importance of close cooperation among all relevant agencies, both central and local, to provide effective assistance to the public and minimise the impact of the floods. He urged the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) to manage the water situation stringently until it stabilises.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is committed to ensuring that no residents or farmers face the disaster alone.
