A Thai man suffering from depression yesterday fell to his death from the car park of a shopping mall near Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok.

The 47 year old man, Wanna, fell from the fourth floor of the car park, yesterday, March 2. He sustained a deep cut on his right hand, a broken left arm, and severe internal injuries from the impact of the fall.

A security guard told Channel 7 that Wanna had gone on a rampage, smashing a glass window in the car park with a fire extinguisher. He then sat on the edge of the wall, prompting the security team to approach him.

They attempted to persuade him to move away from the ledge but Wanna ignored them and jumped off the building shortly afterwards.

Wanna worked at a painting studio in the market. His friend, Wiroj, revealed that he had been employed there for over 10 years. He began suffering from depression around two years ago and initially sought medical treatment. However, he later discontinued the treatment as he could not afford it.

Wiroj believed that family problems contributed to Wanna’s depression, as he mentioned these issues multiple times.

On the day of the incident, Wanna disappeared from the studio. His employer assumed he had gone home, so he closed the studio and left as well. Unfortunately, the employer later saw news reports about the fall and asked Wiroj to confirm whether the dead man was Wanna. It was.

A Thai social media influencer, Natcha Sinsai, better known as Natcha NCS, told Channel 7 that she witnessed the suicide. She was riding her motorcycle towards the car park when Wanna fell to the ground in front of her vehicle.

Natcha said she was in shock and frozen with fear. She saw Wanna struggling to breathe before a security guard asked her to leave the scene. She hoped he would survive but later learned from the guard that he had died.

The guard also told Natcha that Wanna suffered from depression and claimed to have heard a mysterious voice in his head ordering him to jump.

Natcha urged those with family members or friends suffering from depression to provide them with close care and support to prevent such tragedies. She added that, although she did not know Wanna personally, she was deeply shaken by the incident.
