A former inspector from Bangkok’s Wang Thoglang Police station has been sentenced yesterday to 20 years in jail for murdering his girlfriend in 2020. The man, 31 year old Songklod ‘Boy’ Boonsong, shot and killed his girlfriend, 30 year old Pimchadaporn ‘Nim’ Puyamsai at a townhouse in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi. Boy shot Nim in the head.

Boy claims he accidently fired a pistol when she was trying to grab it during an argument, and he was trying to take it away from her. But the prosecutor of the Criminal Court of Thailand disagrees. The prosecutor stated that Boy intended to kill Nim by pointing the gun at head, knowing that if fired the gun, she would die.

Yesterday (Wednesday), the court read the judgement, and agreed that Boy intended to kill Nim. Boy has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison, and charged with 720,000 baht. Boy is the former deputy investigation inspector for Wang Thonglang Police, and the case was highly publicised in 2020.

This news comes after a soldier shot and killed his ex-wife in Northeast Thailand last week. The soldier had threatened his ex-wife by firing shots in their house when they were still married. After the couple divorced and the soldier’s ex-wife refused to go back to him, he shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself.
