A Thai woman sought assistance from the Ministry of Public Health after she recently lost consciousness due to severe blood loss following dimple surgery at a beauty clinic in Bangkok’s Prawet district.

The 41 year old victim, Laila, urged the Be One organisation to bring her case to the Ministry of Public Health and help her receive proper medical treatment. This prompted the organisation’s founder, Chalida “Ton Or” Palamat, along with assistant minister Thanakit Jit-areerat, to inspect the clinic yesterday, February 17, but unfortunately, the premises was closed.

Laila revealed to Channel 7 that she came across an advertisement for the clinic on TikTok. She was attracted by the low price of the dimple surgery, which cost only 2,300 baht. She subsequently contacted the clinic and underwent the procedure on December 3 at approximately 7.30pm.

The doctor allowed Laila to choose the spots on her cheeks where she wanted the dimples to be created. Despite Laila selecting slightly higher positions than usual, the doctor agreed to proceed as per her request.

The procedure on Laila’s left cheek went smoothly, but she experienced severe pain during the surgery on her right cheek. A significant amount of blood was discharged from the wound. However, the doctor reassured her that this was normal and continued with the operation.

Laila later reported that her right cheek became extremely swollen and painful. The doctor did not provide any aftercare instructions or inform her of any potential issues with the surgery, allowing her to return home.

More victims surface

Concerned about the ongoing pain and suspecting that the surgery had gone wrong, Laila began documenting the condition of her wound daily through photographs and videos.

On December 14, her condition worsened when excessive bleeding occurred from the wound on her right cheek. She immediately sought medical attention from the clinic but the doctor once again claimed that her symptoms were normal.

Despite repeated visits to the beauty clinic and a hospital, Laila’s wound continued to bleed for almost two months. Eventually, the doctor at the beauty clinic denied responsibility, claiming too much time passed since the surgery was performed.

This prompted Laila to seek assistance from the Be One organisation. On February 14, while awaiting further help, Laila lost consciousness due to excessive blood loss. The organisation arranged for emergency medical services to rush her to Pranangklao Hospital in Nonthaburi province, where she underwent urgent surgery to stop the bleeding.

Assistant Public Health Minister Thanakit told the media that the clinic’s owner, a female doctor, would be summoned for questioning soon. Laila will also be required to provide further statements once her condition has stabilised.

Comments on the Be One organisation’s official Facebook page revealed that several other people have also experienced surgical mishaps at the same beauty clinic.

One woman reported being unable to breathe after undergoing nose surgery there, while another stated that a thread-lifting procedure left her with threads that failed to dissolve as intended.
