A tragic incident unfolded in Bangkok when a former husband fatally stabbed his ex-wife’s new partner, a transgender woman after allegedly being taunted via text messages.

Sin Oo was attacked in Soi Bang Bon 3 and rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, having sustained a stab wound to the chest. The suspect, Soe, managed to escape initially but was later arrested on February 23 after returning to the vicinity of the crime.

The Sin Oo’s partner, 32 year old Noy, also from Myanmar, shared that she had been in a relationship with Soe for 15 years and they had two children together. However, due to Soe’s violent behaviour when intoxicated, she ended the relationship.

Noy had been dating Sin Oo for about three months before the incident occurred. On the day of the attack, the two were returning home after work when Soe confronted them.

Sin Oo advised Noy to go ahead, but shortly after, Noy was informed by a coworker that Sin Oo had been stabbed.

The owner of the apartment where Sin Oo and Noy lived reported that Soe had repeatedly tried to cause trouble due to his displeasure over his ex-wife’s new relationship. Despite efforts to keep Soe away, he managed to attack Sin Oo as she and Noy were returning to their room. Witnesses described Sin Oo as a cheerful and well-liked person.

After Soe’s arrest, he claimed that Sin Oo had taunted him through messages, provoking his actions. He denied any prior intent to harm and was unaware of Noy’s relationship with Sin Oo, reported KhaoSod.

Soe also denied having ever abused Noy physically. Police have charged him with premeditated murder and are preparing to present the case to the Thonburi Criminal Court.
