Ao Sane luxury villa being investigated by the DSI
The 12 metre high beach villa project on the cliff at Ao Sane has been proven to be illegal according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The owners were instructed to demolish the upper structure to meet the legal height of 6 metres back in August.
In the meantime DSI (Department of Special Investigations) officials have been on the island investigating the Ao Sane property. Pol Lt Col Prawut said that the land deed was issued in 2010 after a request from a person from Bangkok.
As claims for the land deed requires a Sor Kor 1, and that the Sor Kor 1 was issued in 1954 for people who did ‘agriculture’ on the land, the DSI believe that the land paper was probably illegally issued.
“It is hill and sea-side land and we found that the surface of the land is mostly stone with a shallow layer of soil which is not the location for agriculture. It is possible that the process for issuing these land papers is illegal which we will investigate further,” said Pol Lt Col Prawut.
